Chogoria Scenic Route — 5 Days

Widely regarded as the most breathtaking trail on Mount Kenya. Features Lake Michaelson, the Gorges Valley, Vivien Falls, and high alpine tarns.

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day 1

   Nairobi to Chogoria Bandas (2,950m)

   Drive to Chogoria town, transfer to 4x4 mountain vehicles and ascend to Chogoria Bandas. Forest nature walk.

2. Day 2

   Bandas to Lake Ellis (3,450m)

   Trek along scenic ridges to the tranquil shores of Lake Ellis for lunch and acclimatization.

3. Day 3

   Lake Ellis to Lake Michaelson (4,000m)

   Hike into the dramatic Gorges Valley, passing Vivien Falls to camp by the emerald waters of Lake Michaelson.

4. Day 4

   Summit Point Lenana (4,985m) & Shipton's

   Pre-dawn summit assault. Stand atop Point Lenana at sunrise, descend to Shipton's or Old Moses.

5. Day 5

   Descent to Gate & return to Nairobi

   Final descent through moorland and forest, transfer back to Nairobi.
